Update on Essential Oils Project

In February 2009, CHI staff delivered requested essential oils to the essential oils project run through the Tibetan Bon YMBC center in Dolanji Inida. Oils included myrrh, frankincense, myrtle, fennel, helichrysum, mister, eucalyptus, jasmine, Douglas fir, red thyme, cinnamon leaf, cedar leaf, petitgrain, niaouli, onion, yarrow, aniseed, cumin, ajowan, manuka, benzoin, several blends and grapeseed carrier oil.

The essential oils health practitioner in Dolanji continues to use essential oils on Tibetan refugee patients that request it. The oils are particularly effective on wounds, sprains and muscle ailments. Because he now has so many oils, carpenters in the refugee community recently made a special cabinet to hold the essential oils. Having acquired some additional land, the monastery in the Tibetan community is planning on planting some plants in 2009 that can be used to make essential oils. The monastery also plans to plant plants to be used in Tibetan healing generally.

The essential oils health practitioner in Dolanji continues to use essential oils with over 40 Tibetan refugee patients each month. He has expanded into other alternative areas and will report on those the next time that there is a visit. Deliveries of essential oils and bottles that were in short supply were made in December 2006 and April 2007. Oils included Lavender, Lemongrass, SARA, Trauma Life, Frankincense and Spikenard. In addition, because of the expansion of the program, funds were given to build a specially designed cabinet to keep the oils in.
