Mission
The vision of the World YWCA is of a fully inclusive world where justice, peace, health, human dignity, freedom and care for the environment are promoted and sustained through women’s leadership. The purpose of the World YWCA is to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls around the world to achieve human rights, health, security, dignity, freedom, justice and peace for all people.
Programs
The priorities of the YWCA are: World peace with justice; Human rights of women and children; Women’s health and HIV/AIDS; Women’s economic justice, the environment and sustainable development. Under these priorities some local programs include: Angola: Literacy & computer training; Kenya: community peace building; Nepal: leadership training; Ukraine: advocacy on AIDS; Brazil: sexual & reproductive health

Nyaradzai Gumbonzvanda is the General Secretary of the World YWCA. She has over ten years of experience with the United Nations, where she served as Regional Director for the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in Eastern Africa, among other positions.
