Mission
The mission of the Institute for Culture and Ecology is to conduct participatory research and on-the-ground actions that foster resilient livelihoods, communities, and ecosystems. We collaborate with communities, managers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to develop and apply the social science understanding needed to craft viable environmental polices and programs.
Programs
IFCAE's programs fall in several broad areas: participatory learning; looking at how power societies shapes interactions with the environment; and systems of stewardship and sustainability.

Personnel Overview
Agus Rafiqkoh - Operations Manager
Agus Rafiqoh has managed sustainable wood furniture production in Jepara since 1993. Agus aims to create an example of how business can be practiced with due consideration of the people and resources that make business possible. He is now a spokesperson for social and environmental responsibility in his community, and has enlisted strong local support for the Jepara Forest Conservancy.
Eric T. Jones - Director
Eric is an Environmental Anthropologisit working internationally on natural resource research, conservation and policy analysis. He has researched and published on sustainable forestry, stewardship, land tenure, community-based environmental protection, interdisciplinary science, and political ecology; an was lead editor for the book, "Nontimber forest products in the United States".
