More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Hurricane Katrina, one of the worst natural disasters ever to occur in the United States, caused unprecedented flooding and destruction along the Gulf Coast. Many died, others are still unaccounted for, and hundreds of thousands of residents have been displaced and relocated in cities across the country. Contaminated floodwaters have caused a public health crisis. Homes, schools, businesses and entire community infrastructures must be repaired or rebuilt—an effort that will take years.
Activities
Contributions to the Hurricane Katrina Fund will be allocated to projects being implemented by GlobalGiving partners that are closest to reaching their funding goals. Donors can support long term recovery without having to pick a specific project.
