Mission

Education Through Music-LA’s mission is to provide music education in disadvantaged schools as part of the core curriculum and regular school day in order to enhance students' academic performance and general development. We believe every child deserves a well-rounded education, one that includes music and the arts. ETM-LA was founded in Fall 2006 as the first program in the nation based on the Education Through Music model that has been successfully serving New York City schools since 1991.

Programs

In-School Music Education Program -- ETM-LA forms long-term partnerships with elementary and middle schools that lack sufficient resources for school-wide music education to design a music program which includes: • Weekly, yearlong music instruction for every child • Integration of disciplines to support learning in other subjects • Training and mentoring for teaching artists • Professional development for academic teachers • Management guidance for principals • Assessment and evaluation
