Mission

Our mission is to engage communities in the creation of art for public spaces that tells their unique stories and serves as the basis for dialogue interaction and a better understanding of Los Angeles. We bridge the cultural, geographic, and language barriers that exist between many Angelenos through innovative public art, public programs and publications that effectively share the experiences of Los Angeles residents with others.

Programs

Through our community-based art initiatives, we hire local artists and young people to translate community stories into public art. The youth participants take the lead in interviewing community members about the project themes and engaging community members in the art making workshops. Since our inception, we have implemented 16 community-based art projects in eight neighborhoods, involving 28 artists, 160 youth, and 900 community members in the art making process.
