More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Innocent civilians on both sides — especially vulnerable children, the elderly and the sick — are being harmed by the ongoing violence. The UN estimates nearly 900,000 people have been displaced by the conflict. Few agencies have been able to reach Southern Lebanon, where the fighting is most intense. Mercy Corps was able to reach the Southern village of Marjayoun on Tuesday, August 1st with critical food supplies and blankets.
Activities
As one of the few humanitarian agencies with a long-term presence in Lebanon, we are especially well positioned to contribute to the response, and are working to reach 100,000 vulnerable people with vital food, water and supplies.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
As we deliver immediate relief, we are also looking to long-term needs that will most assuredly arise from the devastation caused by the conflict.
Project Message
It is my deepest hope that in the days ahead security and perhaps even peace will somehow prevail, allowing people on all sides to begin piecing their lives back together.
- Neal Keny-Guyer, CEO, Mercy Corps
