More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Women and children, having fled from Liberia's war for the past 15 years, have sought refuge in Ghana. The Liberian Refugee Women's Organization (LIREWO) was founded in 2001 and seeks to provide training in textiles, sewing, hairdressing and other skills for refugees. LIREWO also provides an orphanage, counseling, and other support activities for women and children who wish to rebuild their lives from the ravages of war.
Activities
Equipment for the center and orphanage, such as desks and teaching aids, will make it easier for LIREWO to effectively support skills training and education. Construction of a water reservoir will also provide a reliable source of water for the camp.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
Training, education, and support will give these refugees the opportunity to rebuild their lives, as well as allow them to contribute their voices to peace initiatives in Liberia.
Project Message
The centre is reckoned as the most well organised and effective project in the refugee camp. However, it lacks the resources to support its activities.
