More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Most young Jews and Arabs in Israel live in separate communities and attend different schools; they don’t get to learn about each other’s culture and often have stereotyped ideas about the “other” and ignore the commonalities that exist between their cultures. Massa-Massar Journey provides young people with an opportunity to meet and develop trusting relationships. The program promotes the values of respect for differences and empathy for injustice.
Activities
After a preparation phase, the participants travel together for 6 days to different symbolic places. Activities address identity, diversity, recognizing each other’s humanity and empowering the young participants both in formal and informal ways.

Resources
Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
The program creates a network of young people who will know the "other side" and be aware of the shared heritage of the different cultures that exist in the region. Participants get out of the program with a will to advance dialogue and peace.
Project Message
NSWAS beckoned as a kind of border zone and as... the site for educational explorations, for creating traditions with futures, for offering niches where identity discourses get reinvented.
