Myanmar Update

By Heidi Saravia - Development Officer, January 14, 2009 01:45 PM

In response to Cyclone Nargis, which struck Myanmar in May 2008, International Medical Corps was able to quickly establish partnerships with international and local organizations and work with them to bring emergency relief to some of the hardest hit areas. Funded entirely through private donations, International Medical Corps’ emergency response provided relief and early recovery activities, benefiting more than 45,000 cyclone survivors living in the Ayeyarwady Delta. Specifically, we delivered several tons of medical aid to supply mobile and temporary clinics, provided primary health care services and health education to more than 30 villages, and purchased seeds, tractors, and fuel to support marginalized farmers to begin the planting season and assist in early recovery. With your generosity we have exceeded our goal and raised more than $683,500 for emergency response in Myanmar. Thank you!
