The tuk-tuk pulled into the Dazzling Stone Home For Children, and without knowing if it was actually the place that was expecting me I climbed the stairs built on the side of the building. I made my way into the first room I see with a cloth hanging at the door frame that is not attempting to keep out the warm or cold. More than often a project is the director’s home and I quickly realize I am in both the office and a living room. My presence is detected and soon I am speaking very slowly and with easy English to a beaming older man happy to show me his accomplishment. We make our way through the language barriers using a bit of sign language and I learn that he and his wife started the Dazzling Stone Home in 1994 and it has grown to 120 children with a staff of 18. The children have come from pasts that include pick pocketing, stealing, and slum life that take them away from their education. Some children are abandoned while others have parents who are unable to suppo rt them. For these children they stay with the parents for one month out of the year, while the parents are allowed to visit the second Sunday of every month. As you can see, the definition of “orphan” is much different in India than it is in the United States.
Orphanages that feed and care for the children and encourage them to continue their education are in high demand (to say the least). It is never an issue to find the children to fill up these homes, but rather to keep the numbers down. The Dazzling Stone Home just opened their doors to twenty more children while trying to expand the orphanage. The infrastructure is there, but it remains to be a few cement buildings with limited lighting and not much comfort. They are hopeful about future plans to continue building, but they work as fast as the money comes. The first and most basic need is food, and I’m told the children can live off seventy cents a day. Clothes come next, and then the fancy stuff like a paint job and tiles for the floors. I ask, “What happens if the money doesn’t come? How are you going to care for the additional children?” The reply comes with a smile and assures me that, “God will provide.” The protocol is much different than any kind of children’s home you’d find in America with a trust in a higher power to keep the revenue flowing and to work from the bottom up with the children already there. However, I always have to keep reminding myself that in almost all cases this situation is better than the one they left.
I can scan the room and guess how long they’ve been at the orphanage. The twenty who arrived a couple of months ago are easy to spot. They aren’t completely present in the activities and their eyes glaze over just a bit. Their faces are hardened and it kills me to know that laughter would seem out of the ordinary for them. Those who know the space and are comfortable with the adults who line the room look as children should. There’s a lightness about their expression that indicates a happy innocence. I am encouraged to see the difference and know that these children who have only known what a hard life feels like are capable of finding that laughter again that should come so easily. Even without floor tiles or shelves for the food, this is a safe place, and safe places don’t need to be fancy. They just need to feel like home.

Thank you very much for your wonderful helps .All the children and staff are fine and ok.
We are very busy in June month,All the children going to school.Children met their part of important needs for the school education.All the children are very happy.
Now the School year 2009 – 2010 many new admission coming but we took some ,Now we have 120 children.
Many children very small and weak.We have not enough money,but we belive God will support us . This year also you will give your heartful supports with prayer for the children’s studies and better bright future.
we need lot, like uniform,text notes, text books,school fees, school bags,pen,pencil,shoes,etc. And they need good helth food also.
This month 10 french students and 2 USA volunteers came to the orphanage.The French students help the construction of the part of unfinished works and stay here about 15 days.They are working very hard with love.
We have any permanent helps,God will help through good hearted people.This year also we want to run the orphanage without any trouble through you like prayers and etc.

How cool is this? I travelled to India and got to spend the day at the Dazzling Stone Orphanage in Chennai India, that you supported with your donation through GlobalGiving. We spent the day with 100 children from ages 2 to 18 and were entertained by their songs and skits in Hindi, French and English. The children of middle and high school age were taking their exams so that they can progress to the next level in the government schools. Dazzling Stone is doing a wonderful job of giving these children love, education and a place to belong. The facilities were sparse but clean with very good (by India standards) sanitation and access to clean water. Danna and his family are fundraising now to add facilities for more children.

Greetings to you and all. Thank you very much for your kind mind and wonderful support through prayer. All children are fine and happy to stay here.
All the children are studying well. Small children did final examination well. They got good marks, big children’s final examination going on.
Last week Children celebrated sports day and did lot of competitions and celebrated 14th annual day. They did so many programs like dramas, singing songs, dance, skits and speeches and etc. Many VIPs came to the orphanage and watch the program and giving prizes to the sports winners and program winners and giving chocolates and good special food for the children.
Global giving staff John and Margaret came to the orphanage on Monday 20th April. We and children are very happy about their arrival and children did some special program for them. They are very nice, good hart and hospitality persons. They are working very hard with wise. They are encouraging us very much and speak with us smoothly.
We also welcome to every one, if you have time, please come to Dazzling stone orphanage and visit the orphan children and giving happiness to all children.
April and May month is very difficult climate of very hot season going on, this time many diseases will spread all over our places, like skin diseases, sun stroke, stomach problem, typhoid etc.Please pray for our children health.

One building inside plastering works,ceiling works and some electrical works and Toilet plumbing works are finished.
Last week children went to a beautiful theams park MGM(Mary land) through a tourist bus with our repectable sister Mary.
All the children enjoyed very much and played lot of Games.And also going out for the Family Farewell function through Vans and did some programs.
The children prepare the notes for school annual Examination .The School Exam starting soon.Day by day so many local people come to the orphanage and giving sweets,chocolates,food items to the children.

Children celebrated Republic day celebration with decoration with colour papers and flags, and did march fast, speeches, skits, songs and dance. The special guests giving sweets and chocolates to all children. All the children enjoyed very much.
The unfinished construction works of plastering, flooring, plumbing and electrical works going on in the orphanage building,
We fixed two motor water pumps for taking water from the bore well and will fix a big water tank on the Toilet building.
Now the summer season was started, so some children are in trouble with small sickness like chicken box and skin sickness. They took treatment and now many of them recovered. Please pray for the children.
The near by village people also same type of trouble. The sickness spread from the village children.

All the children are studying well. Children are preparing notes for the 2nd term examination .The half yearly examination start on next week.
We and orphanage children have a big problem due to heavy rain, we are now in the Island (all the sides full of water).Heavy rain fall down, so the big lake near by the orphanage was open so the water came around the orphanage and other places, here now no trans port available, we are not easy to going out, we are not easy purchase the things out side, now the expanse also heavy, We are very much trouble for the children food,etc.
Due to the heavy rain, staying, sleeping&etc also very difficult for the children due to the unfinished in the orphanage, so the children want to finish the unfinished works, after finished the unfinished work only the orphan children will have a peaceful life here. so please you will give your helping hands for the children .
And we are afraid for the incident of the terrorist attack against India.
They said they will attack more and more against India, England and USA.
We are very much afraid, (In Srilanka one of the orphanage children completely dead from the bomb attack).Please pray for our peace. God only give us and orphan children good strength and peace.

help need for orphan children

Dear Loving Hearts,
Thank you very much for your wonderful supports and prayers .All the children are fine and ok .They are studying well.
Now three French students stay in the orphanage more than one month and doing volunteer works like teaching English for the dazzlingstone school children and play with the children and painting works, etc.
A volunteer came from Holland and doing volunteer works about 10 days and teaching some songs in English and Spanish ,construction,arranged a big bus for the children for outing and all the children went MGM Themes Park (mary land) .The children enjoyed very much.
The local L&T company workers Trust helped for the wall construction materials like cement, iron grill net ,aloe blocks for wall construction works, myself , children and staff will construct the wall of the school building, the works going on.
Next we will find a sponsor for the pasteing and plastering works,It will be cost near about 1000 $. Please pray for this.
Now rainy season going on.Deepavali festival is coming.

Stepping into this New Academic Year 2008-2009, we remember all the good hearted people who have come and volunteered their precious time with our children and all those generous heart’s which has helped us time and again in meeting the needs of our orphan children. We remain ever thankful to all of you for the love you have for our children and pray to God to bless you and all your dear ones very much.
Fifteen years back we started with 5 children and now we have grown many fold and at present we have over 100 children . Plus we are employing 18 staff at our orphanage. So in the past 15 years we were able to care and serve for over 500 children, of which some of the children have got married and some are working. For all these to happen was possible only by your love for our children and your generous help.
The Dazzling stone school from KG – 5th grade is running fine and the older children go to outside schools. The very poor children from near by village also coming to the dazzlingstone school and studying well without any fees.All the children are studying well and every one are fine and happy. We pray to God to meet our needs through HIS children and we kindly request you also to pray for us.
GOD only send so many people come forward and help to the children., Jesus did many miracle and serve the children every time through good hearted people( we belive the people are Jesus Angels).So we have no problem to run the orphanage,so we and children are praying with tears.
This year also we starting the 15th year with many difficulties,without money,We belive this year(life time) also Jesus run the orphanage.He will do miracle again and again.We and children are praying with tears.You also pray for the orphanage.

They are going out and celebrated Christmas on 25th December with some organizations and did so many programs and got so many prizes. They are very happy in the Xmas season. Now the Climate was very cool.
We met GlobalGiving wonderful staff Saima in chennai, India. She is a very nice and loving person. We and children are praying for her and her safety travel and her wonderful works.

Greetings to you and all.Thank you very much for your kind mind and wonderful support through prayers and donations. All children are fine and happy. They are going out and celebrated Christmas on 25th December with some organizations and did so many programs and got so many prizes. They are very happy in the Xmas season. Now the Climate was very cool.
We met GlobalGiving wonderful staff Saima in chennai, India. She is a very nice and loving person. We and children are praying for her and her safety travel and her wonderful works.

The children did so many programs like dance, singing songs, skits etc. Some loving people came here and giving Christmas prizes for the winners and for all children. Joy giving new cloths to all staff. Children are enjoying very much .

(before one month he was going to suicide, that time his friend brought him to dazzlingstone orphanage and stay with the children one day all the children praying for his peace and his mind little bit changed,after two times came here, step by step he was changing, now 90% ok. )

The children preparating to celebrate Christmas celebration, they are practicing programs like dance, singing songs, skits etc. All the children are very happy to wait to celebrate the Christmas celebration function.

1- Mr.Shankar, Asoke, Rajesh and sasi came to the orphanage and giving special break fast of idlies, sampar, chudney and boost drinks for the children and serving and eating with the children on 9th December.

2- Mr.N.Balamurugan and groups (more than sixty) celebrated their good day with the children and giving special meals of white rice, sampar, rasam, pottatto porial, dhall porial, appalam, kesari, vadai and payasam to all children on 9th december.
*Every year this groups came to our orphanage continiously in the same time.
