More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Currently, villagers must walk down and back up steep hills with heavy containers to retrieve water, limiting hygiene, sanitation, and irrigation. Water born illnesses are common and nutrition levels are low. Women must go to the river to do laundry all day, instead of caring for their children, livestock, and vegetable gardens. A ram pump system will alleviate the 270 people living in Tinumpagan of such difficulties, and increase community prosperity and health.

Activities

The project uses an innovative hydralic ram pump. Local partner, Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation, Inc. will construct the system together with the community. The community will provide labor and be trained on operation and maintenance.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Project Message

"Look at all my tomatoes! They'd never be here without the pump. And some people have poultry now and they have pigs too. There are so many things you can do if you have water."
- Willy Granada, Chairman of the Tara Small Farmers Co-op
