A Day in the Forest

A Day in the Forest
Two or three times every month, Project “Trees and Education Protect Rainforest in Brazil” brings a school bus full of local children to the forest to learn about the landscape, the environment and the work that is done at the Concordia Mountains Wildlife Sanctuary. We are showing pictures of different groups that visited us lately.

A Day in the Forest 2

A Day in the Forest 2
A teacher or guide waits for the visitors at the bus stop and the “Day in the Forest” ecological tour starts here with the first explanation about what they are going to see and live during their day. See the general enthusiasm and excitement before the beginning of the trail.

During this first part of the trail the guide stops several times to show the deforested landscape and discuss alternatives methods to recover the land and the water sources.

All groups stop at the Serra da Concordia Wildlife Sanctuary entrance. Here they are informed of the activities and experiments that are developed there, and emphasis is given to the Agroforestry plantings essays in this area.

These young visitors enjoy very much this Day in the Forest ecological tour, where they can, see, feel and understand the environment and experience some natural living in their lives.

A Day in the Forest 6

A Day in the Forest 6
This is the first time these students visit a forest. Project "Provide Vegetable Gardens for Families in Brazil” through the SALVEASERRA/GlobalGiving Fund, provides transportation from the schools to the Wildlife Sanctuary and back home in the afternoon. This makes the difference. Municipal students very rarely travel to experience new things. After the visit all want to come back sometime.

A Day in the Forest 7

Our monitors and guides are always with the students group showing and explaining about the environmental history of the Atlantic Rainforest. Here you can see some ruins from the Coffee Cycle of the XIX century that destroyed the forest.

We are very happy with these groups. The satisfaction, knowledge and information they obtain during this visit to the Concordia Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary is priceless and will last forever.

A Day in the Forest 9

A Day in the Forest 9
A first contact with a forest. Here students learn about the environment, flora and fauna, water and nature's balance.

A Day in the Forest 10

A Day in the Forest 10
The water spring always attracts the students and visitors. If it is a hot day it is sure that they will try the water. The forests are essential for production of water. This relationship is showed to the visitors.
