Organic agriculture training course
In the month of May the project "Provide Vegetable Gardens for Families in Brazil”, through the SALVEASERRA/GlobalGiving Fund, sponsored and offered to 10 people interested in organic agriculture a full day training course on the matter.

We sent the students to the next city of Rio das Flores to Mr. Julio Graça model vegetable garden small farm.

Mr. Julio Graça gives these lessons on vegetable gardening three or four times a year. It is a great opportunity for us to train and introduce organic farming to possible recipients of our vegetable garden project.

Students follow every step of a garden that produces large daily quantities of organic vegetables for the local markets. Here they are learning how to prepare the good soil needed for the vegetable beds.

Mr. Julio explains the “seeds in trays” planting method to produce baby vegetables. Good soil, good seed and good care are the recipes.

Mr. Julio proudly presents his beautiful organic vegetables production. His bicycle makes a tour in the city everyday selling fresh vegetables. He sells also in the regional markets. He is a very good example to our gardeners.

Vegetable gardens at Municipal schools 1
The project "Provide Vegetable Gardens for Families in Brazil” works also improving vegetable gardens in Municipal schools in Valença County. We are attending two schools and after winter holidays other two will be receive our assistance and help. This is Tancredo Neves school. The gardener was one of the students the training course.

Believe it or not, these Municipal Schools vegetable gardens receive very little or no assistance at all from the Municipality. They need help and this is what we are trying to do. This is Maria Ielpo School. They are just beginning. The gardener was also a student at the Organic Agriculture course.
