More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In Igbeagu-Izzi more than 90% of the population live from agriculture. The farmers have generally only small lands (average of 2 hectares) which they are able to cultivate by hand. They face many barries to progress and have few opportunities for income. Specially young people loose often hope for the future and try to migrate. Their concern is how to earn an income which can improve the quality of life. Therefore the Project IZZI has startet programs to create secure jobs.

Activities

1. Cooking of raw rice in big pots. 2. Drying on mats. 3. Milling of the dried rice in the huller. 4. Cleaning of the milled rice in the distoner. 5. Filling the rice in ricebags (10, 20, 50 kg). 6. Marketing.

In Abakaliki was bought a strong used watercooled dieselengine "Blackstone" wich was thoroughly overhauled. This engine lasts for many years without repair. One can get easily spareparts for it.
