This is a CWP plant in rural Cambodia. To date, IDE Cambodia has helped establish a network of three manufacturers, 2 distributors, and 70 retailers that have distributed some 5,000 CWPs duringteh past year. IDE has cooperated with NGO partners to distribute an additional 25,000 CWPs during the past 3 years.

The CWP project benefits both producers and end users. This woman, employed by the CWP production plant, is painting colloidal silver onto the CWP clay pots, which acts as a disinfectant, killing bacteria in water sources. At least half of the CWP supply chain participants are women.
Rural CWP Retailer
At least half of the CWP supply chain participants are women including the eleven members of a women’s pottery cooperative that produces CWPs in Kampong Chhnang & CWP retailers & promoters at pharmacies, shops, clinics, health centers and garment factories. Through direct participation in production and retail sales, income opportunities for women are increased. Many of these women express satisfaction in being able to contribute to the community by making an effective health product available.
CWP demonstration to a local village by IDE Staff
IDE staff work to create market demand for new technologies like the CWP. Once demand has increased and self-sustaining production and sales have been established, IDE withdraws and lets the markets continue on their own.
NGO Partners
Plan and Unicef have been successfully used in spreading the CWP technology and IDE brand in schools throughout Cambodia.
This children to adult promotion of the CWP is a very cost effective marketing tool. IDE will continue to create strategic partnerships with NGO's and are utilizing these to ensure the rabbit CWP can reach the poorest of the poor.
CWP's meet WHO standards
Performance testing in 1,000 households showed that 99% of filters produced water meeting WHO "low risk" standards after one year of use. High levels of user satisfaction were also reported.
