More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

According to UNICEF, children living in four of Thailand’s predominantly Muslim southern provinces (Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla) suffer anxiety and emotional distress caused by an ongoing violence in their communities. Children living in these communities have witnessed homicide, bombing and burning of schools, and even have been the victims of violence and social discrimination. The camp provides a support that they need through learning experiences in a healthy community environment.

Activities

A three-day Peacemaker Camp consist of peace-building games, leadership training and teamwork activities, cultural exchange, fraternity and sorority ceremony, tree planting, service projects, as well as trips to places such as amusement park and zoo.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Peacemaker Camp provides an avenue for children to create a lasting bond with one another, and coaches a way of mindfulness and attitude in order to cope with their emotion and to enact peace making decisions in their relationships and communities.

Project Message

Thanks to the project, I now know love. I tried to care for young children because we came from the same parents “Thai Parents.” I want to restore peace in the country so youth have a brighter future.
- Volunteer, Thaksin University
