Provide communities in Nicaragua with the opportunity to improve their own healthcare systems, while supporting sustainable development through job creation for community members.

Salud del Sol, Inc. conducts research and development of products, acts as custodian for intellectual property, secures funding through donations and grants, does market analysis and development, and provides other advice and assistance for long-term sustainability. Our product list is expanding as we find more opportunities for appropriate solutions to energy problems in poverty-stricken areas. Personnel Overview
Lori Hanna - Executive Director
Salud del Sol, Inc. is an extension of Lori's honors thesis, “Solar Autoclave for Rural Nicaragua.” She has lived in Nicaragua for four months over the last three years, working on solar box cookers and the solar autcolave. She has work experience in biomedical, mechanical, and civil engineering; and she has a deep interest in appropriate technologies, renewable energy, and dance.
Daniel Hensel - Director of Product Research
Daniel is responsible managing the testing and prototyping of the solar autoclave. Daniel is currently a fifth year student at the University of Dayton, School of Engineering, studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Daniel spent the past summer in Nicaragua, researching the solar autoclave and teaching the local community how to play ultimate frisbee.
Lauren Dokes and Anna Young - Director of Finance and Director of Development
Lauren and Anna graduated from the University of Dayton, School of Business Administration in May 2008. With her Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Lauren is responsible for the financial management of Salud del Sol, Inc. and the projects with partner organizations. Anna received her degree in Business Economics and Finance, and manages the organizational development of Salud del Sol.
