Mission
The mission of Daktari is to inspire, motivate, and educate underprivileged children to care for their environment through the medium of a wildlife orphanage.
Programs
Facilitating the development of a recognized environmental certificate program enabling graduates to obtain employment in this field Building a camp for a homeless cheetah, our wildlife ambassador, to inspire local underprivileged children to protect their wildlife. Partnering with bigger game reserves to allow the underprivileged children to have the opportunity to see uncommon animals in their natural habitat

Personnel Overview
Ian Merrifield - Director
Ian is an ex head game ranger, who has spent almost his entire life in “the bush. Passionate about the environment, Ian firmly believes the key to nature’s future lies in education of the children. His experience allows him today to share his enthusiasm with underprivileged children whilst educating them about taking care of their environment.
Michele Merrifield - Director
French, business woman, living in South Africa for over 10 years. Worked on a private nature reserve and took care of many orphaned wild animals. Founding member of Daktari she helped design and implement the education program for the local children. Great knowledge and experience in dealing with orphaned wild animals whilst creating a bond with Thabo, underprivileged child who became her son.
