More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
RedR's programmes in Darfur provides aid workers with preventative safety and security training to reduce the likelihood of being attacked. As sadly, risk cannot be eliminated, they are also taught techniques and skills to respond to violent incidents. This project provides psychological support to aid workers who have been affected by attacks to prevent post traumatic stress and therefore enable them to continue their life saving work.
Activities
RedR provides one-to-one counselling, a staff welfare support network and training programmes where aid workers learn skills to maintain staff welfare after critical incidents.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
The extreme situations aid workers operate in means that the average “burn out” rate in Darfur is just 6 months. If an aid worker leaves the field after this time, their skills, knowledge and experience are lost. This project minimises this.
Project Message
"Teaching others about risks and threats and how to avoid them increases their chances of survival. I enjoy training them because I know that the knowledge I share helps to protect people."
- Zakaria, RedR Trainer
