Mission
Project FOCUS is a grass-roots initiative of diverse individuals bound by a common purpose: to educate, inspire, and empower local communities in Southwestern Uganda and the United States. Through creative collaboration, personal narratives and exhibition, we hope to support sustainable community initiatives, actively combat social apathy, and reveal the common humanity between two seemingly different worlds.
Programs
In Lyantonde, a town in Southwest Uganda, Project FOCUS members: implemented creative projects with community groups; focused on the use of art as a way to share personal and community narratives; taught embroidery, fabric collage, printing, and non-traditional forms of photography; and collaborated with local community-based organizations, government leaders and village members to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and identify the strengths and needs of the community.
