Mission

The Near East Foundation (NEF) catalyzes social and economic development in Arab and African communities that are experiencing deep poverty, marginalization, conflict, and environmental distress. NEF’s 100-plus field staff – development professionals all working in their own countries – mobilize these “communities in peril” to find homegrown solutions to problems concerning education, health care, agriculture, income generation, and job creation.

Programs

On an annual budget of approximately $7 million, NEF maintains offices and programs in Egypt, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Sudan. For more information, please visit http://www.neareast.org/main/countries/
