More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Many Rwandan women are ignorant of sport activities, especially football.Women do not like to play football because they consider it a game for men. Evidence shows that just 2 women football coaches have created 11 football women teams in Rwanda. After gaining the training for 100 women trained in football coaching, 100 teams will be created and there will be development of women's football in Rwanda.

Activities

If we train 100 football women coaches, we will get more women with sufficient knowledge of football to create and train many women's football teams. So, we will achieve the development of women football as a competitive sport in Rwanda.

Project Message

Before 2000, there was no gender balance in football. It was said that no women can play football saying that they are weak. This project will show people that women have many potentialities as men.

"Training of 100 football women coaches in Rwanda”, is a project by NYINAWUMUNTU Grace. This course aims at empowering women and girls through training in football coaching. We have so far mobilized and identified 100 women and girls aged between 20 and 30 years, from all provinces of the country, where each province shall be represented by 20 women and girls. We are strongly convinced that, this course will result into formation of more women and girls soccer teams; more specifically, existence of each team for each province, which was not the case before. This in turn will make it easy and possible to form a strong and sustainable national women soccer team. Best still, this is the road to women empowerment through sport.
We are humbly calling up on different donors, to support us, so as to make our dreams a reality. And we need your opinions, suggestions and comments on how we can work together to attract wider support, and by so doing, we will be helping 1994 Genocide affected Rwandan women to rise and to tear the walls of social paradigm. We take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters, who use to help us and without them, no progress could have been made so far.
“Yes, women too can do what men do, we really need to show the rest of the world that we too can do what men do and I am quite sure that through sport, particularly this coming training, we shall make ourselves heard and recognized. Training me is obviously a step to my personal empowerment in particular and others empowerment in general”. A statement by UWINEZA Ange, one of beneficiaries when answering to a certain journalist’s question, during mobilization phase.
