Mission
The mission of Wild Gift is to give exceptional leaders, ages 21-30, a compelling experience in deep wilderness and the support to launch a self-designed project that promotes the stewardship of wild nature and development of sustainable communities. By 2015, we will support a network of 50 leaders working collaboratively to achieve our core values and beliefs.
Programs
Each year, five leaders are selected to receive the Wild Gift, a value of $8-15,000 per leader. Applicants write a personal vision statement and translate that vision into a proposal for a leadership action project (LAP) that will benefit the natural environment and human community. In addition to launching the LAP, Wild Gift nurtures leadership skills. Recipients participate in a 20-day backpack trek in a wilderness classroom led by a trained guide and Wild Gift mentors.
