More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Due to drought, civil war, and crisis in the coffee industry, millions of families in Guatemala suffer from poor health. Malnutrition is the underlying cause in over 50% of all childhood deaths in Central America. Approximately 1,200,000 children in Guatemala lack basic food security and are literally wasting away to their deaths. The Pan American Health Organization has termed the vicious cycle of malnutrition and infection “most prevalent public health problem in the world today.”

Agros health promoters work with families to develop their health plans and realize the goals.
